The Effectiveness of Mothers’ Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy on Externalizing Disorder of Aggressive Children.

Abstract:

Background: Many children’s physical, e.g, cognitive, behavioural and emotional disorders are caused by mothers’ emotional disturbances. These mothers show weakness in playing the parental role, i.e, which will lead to an increase in behavioral disorders in the child. The aim of the research was to effectiveness of Mothers’ Mindfulness-based Cognitive therapy on externalizing disorder of aggressive children. Method: The research method was an experimental study with pre/post-test design and a control group. The population included all female aggressive students in primary school in 2018 in Namin, Iran, With their mothers. From these students, 40 aggressive students were selected through multistage clustering sampling and randomly assigned into two groups of 20 people. Each student who was chosen in this way, her mother was also involved as a sample of the research. For data collection, were used of Aggression Scale and Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL). the experimental groups mindfulness-based cognitive therapy were executed at 8 sessions, whereas the control group had no intervention. Data were analyzed by multivariate covariance analysis. Results: The findings showed that mindfulness-based cognitive therapy was effective on externalizing disorder of aggressive children. Conclusion: According to the results of the study, mindfulness-based cognitive therapy can be considered as an effective intervention in reducing externalization problems in children. Therefore, it is suggested that mindfulness-based cognitive therapy training be used to improve maternal mental health and reduce childrenchr(chr(chr(chr('39')39chr('39'))39chr(chr('39')39chr('39')))39chr(chr(chr('39')39chr('39'))39chr(chr('39')39chr('39'))))s output problems.
